Swine Flu Hype

With the media's recent (April 2009) sensationalism of the swine flu and constant video clips of people in surgical masks, I couldn't resist the urge to go out and buy some for myself and have some fun with the idea. The composite image turned out pretty well for a quickie project. Anyone else have a problem with sensationalism and unnecessary scare tactics? Getting the word out about a threat is good... but trying to scare people just to keep them glued to the news is appalling. Add up the number of CONFIRMED cases, then divide by the world population. You've got a MUCH better chance of winning the lottery jackpot than catching the swine flu. Oh, and by the way - those surgical masks will do little to protect you from this kind of thing. Research that for yourself though.
